Commitment Agreement

After praying about the commitment involved with volunteering at The River Church, I choose to commit to the following:

I acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in my life, and I have a personal relationship with God through faith in Christ. *
I am committed to growing and maturing in my relationship with God through quiet times, active attendance at a gathering, and a Growth Community. I am committed to stop serving if, at any time, my personal spirituality becomes compromised. *
I will follow the leadership that is in place here at The River Church. *
I understand the philosophy of this ministry and agree with its purpose. I commit to rejecting divisive behavior. I commit to bringing my disagreements, concerns, or problems about the ministry to The River Staff Member without talking or gossiping to volunteers, or other church members. *
I will not post anything on my personal blog, website, or any social media that would be damaging to the reputation of The River Church and more importantly the Gospel of Jesus Christ. *
I understand The River Church understanding of Scripture includes a belief that sexual intimacy is to take place only within the bounds of marriage between a woman and a man. Sexual intimacy outside of the covenant of a marriage between a woman and a man is contrary to God’s instruction and is sinful. (Pre-marital; extra-marital; same-sex). *
I acknowledge that my life reflects the above statement and am committed to a lifestyle that is both godly and above reproach. I commit to making wise choices. *
Because I am making a significant commitment and my presence is important, I agree to be consistent and timely to the program(s) I commit myself to. I also agree to communicate with the ministry leader if I will be absent. *
By checking this box I understand while serving I may be photographed and/or filmed and grant The River Church full rights to use the images resulting from the photography/video filming, and any reproductions or adaptations of the images for fundraising, publicity or other purposes to share, promote, and advertise their events. This might include (but is not limited to), the right to use them in their printed and online publicity, social media, press releases and funding applications. *
I understand that to serve in Worship at The River I must be age 13 or older. *
I understand that to serve in Production at The River I must be age 13 or older. *

Doctrinal Agreement

In an effort to maintain doctrinal unity, please review the statements below.

About the Scriptures: We believe the entire Bible, including both the Old and the New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21) *
About God: We believe that there is one and only one, living and true God. He is the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth. God has revealed Himself as a Trinity in unity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are three Persons and yet one God. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6) *
About Jesus: Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God. He is Himself very God. He took upon Himself our nature. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary. He died upon the cross as a substitute for the sin of the world. He arose from the dead in the body in which He was crucified. He ascended into heaven in that body glorified. He stands with us as our High Priest in Heaven. He will come again personally and visibly to set up His Kingdom and to judge the living and the dead. (Colossians 1:15; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 4:14-16; Revelation 11:15-17; 20:4-6, 11-15) *
About the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is God. Everything He does brings glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the Helper, Comforter, and Counselor sent by Jesus for all believers. He convicts us of sin and regenerates sinners. By Him, believers are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, fills, and empowers believers for Christ-like living and service. (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; John 4:16; 16:8-14; Ephesians 1:13; 4:30; 5:18; Galatians 5:16, 22-23; 2 Corinthians 1:22) *
About Salvation: Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin. In that sense, he is lost. This is true of all men. In and of itself, man is destined for Hell (eternal death), but through Jesus can receive eternal life (Heaven). Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ who bore our sins in His own body on the cross. He gave His life in exchange for each of ours. By trying to outweigh our sin with good works, we reject the free gift of salvation. Trust in Christ’s perfect work is the only solution. This faith should reveal a changed life. (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23; John 3:3, 16; 2 Corinthians 5:1, 17; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10) *
About The Church: The Church is a gathering of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body. Its mission is to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ, gather with the saints and grow in the Word. (Matthew 28: 19-20; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4). The Church will handle issues of discipline and peacemaking using Matthew 18 and 1 Corinthians 5. *
